Reviews can reveal patterns in communication, organisation and aftercare, but they cannot prove that a treatment is clinically appropriate for you. Dental results also change over time, while many online posts are made immediately after treatment.

Look for patterns, not perfection

Read positive, mixed and negative reviews across more than one platform. Repeated comments about unexplained price changes, rushed consultations, bite problems or unavailable aftercare matter more than one angry post. Equally, a page full of short, generic five-star statements should not be treated as conclusive evidence.

Check when the review was written

A photograph taken on the day crowns or veneers are fitted shows appearance, not long-term gum health, comfort or durability. Look for updates months or years later and reviews describing how the clinic handled a problem.

Treat influencer content as advertising unless proven otherwise

Ask whether treatment, travel or accommodation was free or discounted. A creator’s experience may be genuine, but an incentive can affect what is shown. Popularity is not a clinical credential.

Examine before-and-after pictures carefully

Check whether lighting, angle, lip position and image editing are consistent. Ask whether the photographs show the dentist’s own patients and whether the advertised treatment was veneers, crowns, whitening, orthodontics or a combination.

Pictures do not reveal whether teeth were healthy beforehand, how much enamel was removed or whether the bite works comfortably.

Verify facts independently

Confirm the treating dentist’s name and registration with the official regulator. Check the clinic address and who owns or operates it. If an award, accreditation or professional membership is advertised, verify it with the issuing organisation and understand what it actually assesses.

Ask the clinic about difficult cases

A trustworthy consultation should include limitations and alternatives, not only perfect transformations. Ask what happens when a patient dislikes the shape or shade, develops sensitivity or needs an adjustment after flying home.

Use reviews as one part of the decision

Combine reviews with a clinical plan, verified professional details, clear consent, itemised pricing and aftercare arrangements. The most valuable review is not necessarily the most enthusiastic one; it is the one that provides specific, verifiable information relevant to your proposed treatment.
