Temporary Crowns and Temporary Teeth Abroad: What to Expect Between Visits

TEMPORARY RESTORATIONS

Temporary crowns and temporary teeth protect prepared areas and preserve appearance while tissues heal or the laboratory makes the final restoration.

Common temporary options

  • temporary crown or bridge;
  • removable partial or immediate denture;
  • provisional full-arch implant bridge;
  • healing abutment without a visible tooth.

What should a temporary achieve?

It should protect the site, maintain space, support acceptable appearance and allow bite assessment. It is not designed for the same loading as final work.

If it feels high or loose

Contact the clinic. A high bite can create pain and overload; a loose temporary can expose a prepared tooth or become a choking risk.

Eating and cleaning

Avoid hard or sticky food around fragile temporaries and follow specific flossing instructions. Never use household glue.

Before flying

  • confirm it is secure;
  • check the bite;
  • know the final fitting date;
  • carry records and emergency contacts.
TRIP-PLANNING TOOL

Dental Treatment Recovery Calculator

Select every procedure planned for the same trip. The calculator uses the most conservative selected estimate, because combining treatments can extend recovery.

Which procedures are you considering?
Important: This is a general planning aid, not personalised medical clearance. Your dentist or surgeon must set your travel timetable after examining you. Complications, infection, sedation, multiple procedures and existing health conditions can require a longer stay. Seek urgent professional help for heavy bleeding, breathing or swallowing difficulty, rapidly increasing swelling, fever or severe uncontrolled pain.
