A dental guarantee can be useful, but it is not insurance and it does not prove that treatment will succeed. Its exclusions, travel requirements and enforcement matter more than the headline number of years.
What a guarantee may cover
- replacement of a fractured crown, veneer or bridge;
- implant fixture replacement in defined circumstances;
- laboratory or material defects;
- limited remedial treatment at the original clinic.
What is commonly excluded?
- flights, accommodation and lost income;
- damage caused by grinding, trauma or smoking;
- gum disease or decay developing later;
- missed maintenance appointments;
- work altered by another dentist;
- temporary restorations and normal wear;
- medically related implant failure.
Questions to ask in writing

Guarantee versus aftercare plan
A useful aftercare plan identifies symptoms, emergency contacts, scheduled checks, record transfer and who coordinates with a dentist at home. A guarantee alone does none of these.
Calculate the cost of claiming
A “free” replacement may still require another trip.

Save the signed terms, invoice, consent, scans, implant labels and correspondence. Ask whether the clinic carries professional indemnity and which legal jurisdiction applies.
